On this last weekend in March, you might be wondering what's to become of the Brooklyn Flea. We are at 1 Hanson Place, the bank, for two more whole weekends. That's this weekend and Easter weekend. For me, that means I have two more full weekends of work where I can haul my stuff in, set it up, leave it overnight, and get two days of selling for all my hard work. It follows that I'm going to cram as much stuff as I possible can into that little booth for the next two weekends. Starting the second week in April, the Brooklyn Flea will be at the High School on Lafayette on Saturdays, and at the bank on Sundays. I'm not sure what this means for my schedule. Sadly,I can't sell things at the Bishop Loughlin location. I don't know why that market hates me. I'm well loved everywhere else I put my tent up. So, that's what the flea market is doing. You'll have to check in to see where I'll be after April 4th. I'll be taking a weekend or two off, you can count on that. But a "weekend off" in my world means getting up before dawn on Saturday to go to yard sales, and getting up before dawn on Sunday to go to flea markets.
Let's talk about this weekend. I'm really excited about the miniature machines I bought. They are scale models produced at the machine company. They were made to estimate shipping dimensions and packing logistics. Hand made with hand machined parts. Great colors. Most have moving parts. The oil rig is 21" tall. The rest are tiny. I put a AA battery in the photo so you can get a sense of the scale. They were made in the 70s. I had to shell out of them, so they're priced according to what I paid. I can't help it. Sometimes I fall in love with tiny pieces of metalwork.
The mustard yellow set is great. Sorry for the plastic wrap in the photo. That's how it looked when I bought it. In fact, that's how it still looks, in the back of my mom's van. Unwrapping it and cleaning it up is next on my list. The couch has a booboo on the back, so it's cheap. On Saturday, I'm going to put the chairs in my booth, and leave the couch in the van, but you can ask to see it.
The baby Laurel Lamp is nice. I'm even offering your choice of shade. My customer service is improving by the day.
The padlock bracelet blogged below will be in the case. $550 for all it's antique beauty.
I'll be tweeting some more pics of what's to come, so keep an eye on the twitter feed. Do you like the slideshow? It's way easier than cropping and editing all those photos. And slideshows are fun. Another job streamlined!
