FLeaster Weekend

I'm happy to report that my basement did not flood during the "Worst Flood in Two Centuries." It's no joke. People are still pumping out their basements. But thankfully, all 4 tons of antiques and decor (that didn't sell the first three times I brought them to the flea) are safe and dry in my basement, and awaiting the day that I pack them up a fourth time.

I'm bringing a collection of antique signed brooches this weekend. Many of these could be considered "book pieces." They were designed by Alfred Philippe of Trifari and Adolf Katz of Coro. Alfred Philippe's "Surrey With The Fringe On Top" brooch, (the antique car) has moving wheels, charm and books for $275. "Book value," to me, means, if it has a book value, that I'm just more likely to sell it. Especially if I knock the first digit off the price tag. Or move the decimal point to the left. Or divide by four. These are common algorithms used by members of my trade for converting "book value" to "price someone will actually pay you."

As always, keep an eye on the twitter feed for more photos posted live from my booth at 1 Hanson Place. Enjoy your FLeaster Weekend!
