Time pieces?
Happy New Year! First blog of 2011. I did a little tidying up for the occasion. I finally got around to making a facebook page for this operation. You would think that blogging, tweeting and emailing were enough. But if you're like my friends, facebook is the only thing you really care about, so log in and like away. The Brooklyn Flea is back to normal. Saturdays and Sundays from 10-6 at 1 Hanson Pl, The Clocktower Building.
Gifted was lovely in every way. Most people left my booth with handfuls of stuff. It became my tag line for the week..."Most people leave my booth with a handful of stuff." I had never experienced a line of 6 people waiting to pay me until Saturday, December 18, 2010. I set up once and sold for 9 days. It was hardly even work. Only one 3 1/2 hour drive for 9 days of selling. To put this in perspective, I usually spend 35 hours driving in order to get in 9 days of selling. During the summer I set up and break down 9 times in order to sell for 9 days. One drive, one beautiful set up, so many many wonderful customers. Thanks so much. And two weekends off pretty much rocked my world too.
Please take a look at the eBay auctions. Lotta great stuff. I'm really encouraging a conversation about the tiny machines on facebook. You know my business does not really leave much room for conversation. It's always, "Will you make me a deal if I buy 6 of these for $1 a piece?", "No," "But it's a flea market," "NO." While I've gotten better and better at saying, "NO," I prefer a more nuanced, artful conversation. One where I need to really consider what the other is saying. I would very much like to appreciate the point of view of the person I am conversing with. Let's have a discussion about the machines, shall we. This will happen via your comments on facebook. And the pictures there are really cool.
